Miss Manners of the Blogosphere

I need an etiquette ruling.

The quest to blog daily has given rise to a social situation that I'm not entirely certain how to address. Like, let's say you have company for the better part of the weekend... Ok, Friday you can blog before said company arrives, no problem...and Sunday, you can blog after said company leaves, absolutely. But what do you do about Saturday?

It seems rude to excuse yourself to blog ("do you mind if I leave you to go sit on my computer for awhile?")...and it seems sneaky to try to blog during a bathroom or shower break ("Top of the stairs there. Oh, no problem...really...take your time." *sneakstep* *sneakstep*). Backdating is cheating, for the purposes of this particular challenge...and pre-loading a blog to hit "post" on seems to defeat the purpose just as much.

What is a conscientious blogger-turned-hostess to do??

Wow - do you spend every waking moment with houseguests? Is that what it's like being an extrovert? But anyway: I would think it's perfectly acceptable to be like, hey, I need to go "check my e-mail." Or "cut my fingernails." I agree that blogging ahead of time and hitting "post" is cheating. But putting up a very short and minimally-thought-through post wouldn't be cheating, would it?

Hey...some houseguests are nice to spend lots of time with... :)

Ahh...so this is not so much a "manners" question as a "don't want to step away from my 'guest' for a second but feel vaguely obligated" question.

Meh...maybe a lil from column A...a lil from column B...

But the respectful way to do it, regardless of the nature of the guest, is the question.

"Yo, guest - I'm going to go write on my blog...about you. Make yourself a chicken salad sandwich. Don't eat the good cheese."

Ooh...I kinda like the in-yo-face approach...and the limitations on cheese.

Note to self: have chicken salad around.

Well, I still think this is some kind of disease of the extrovert, but if a guest of such high quality is located, perhaps it is best to forgo the blogging in the pursuit of higher causes.

Otherwise, I like J.Bro's approach. Except I'd tell the guest to eat the cheese.

Well, sure...but you're kind of anti-cheese in general, so for you it might be "hands off the good chocolate" or "only drink the wine that makes me cough"

P.S. See today's blog about my extroversion...and/or body parts, but kind of about my extroversion. :)
