I Am Not Cool

I tried.

And maybe it's because I'm a little extra tired today...

Or maybe it's because I've been in my basement pretty much nonstop since about 1 p.m....

Or maybe it's because I ate takeout Chinese food for dinner...

Or maybe it's because I'm simply not cool...

But I tried...and I could not sit through all of Planet Terror. In fact, Planet Terror creeped me the hell out so badly I pretty much fled the room...cleaned up the kitchen...turned on the dishwasher (to drown out the schlocking sounds of brains being consumed and people screaming -- Mr.R is still on the couch in the basement watching it)...fled to the office and grasped at the internet in search of puppies and kittens and unicorns.

And anything pink....

...that doesn't ooze...

...or eat brains.

I'm sorry, Robert...and Rose and Bruce and Freddy...I love the concept and I love your work and I'm normally she-of-the-strong-stomach for campy horror movies...but this one did me in.

Maybe it's time for me to accept that I'm just not cool.

Don't feel bad. I also can't tolerate true horror movies. Sure, I love the campy ones that I can laugh at and make fun of a la Nightmare on Elm Street and Army of Darkness. But stuff like Hostel and "The Ring" just make me very unhappy and so I absolutely refuse to watch them. Blech.

You're not alone! Yay Cute Overload! And we're both still way kewl, BTW.

Come over to 'Shaun of the Dead' - it's campy and fun and all of squishy red parts dont send you scurrying for butterflies and rainbows. However, you may find biting the heads off animal crackers much more fun than it used to be . . .

Shaun of the Dead was fantastic! See? I'm not *completely* squeamish... I think Grrbear had it right: I just can't do true horror.

Whether or not I'm cool....or, kewl... (if I ever was) is probably still a matter of debate...but I'm hopeful!

:D

I'm not sure being able to tolerate extreme violence is cool.
