The Monkey had a fever of 103 last night. I did the good-mom thing and planned to keep him home today...certain that the flu had come to our house and the rest of the week was going to be spent alternating between mopping a feverish forehead and mopping throw-up-y things. Thankfully, today, he's hovered right at 99.something...so whatever it was that spiked his fever last night appears to have gotten distracted by something shiny and moved on.

Whew!

Since he was feeling ok and we were both clean, we decided to go to McDonald's for lunch...

Monkey: Let's chat like everybody else is!
Me: Great idea! I hate rushing through a meal without talking. What shall we talk about?
Monkey: Oh...you know...whatever grownups talk about... Ooh! How about...Finding Nemo On Ice!
Me: Excellent choice! What did you think of the show Friday night?
Monkey: Oh, I enjoyed it!
Me: I'm so glad! Tell me why...
Monkey: Well...it was funny...and...engagement...and it taught me a valuable lesson.
Me: Oh really? What did you learn from it?
Monkey: ....if your dad calls your name THAT many times? It's probably for your own good.
Me: Er...well, yes...that's a good point.

Then later, the Monkey and Monkeydad were playing Super Mario Galaxy on the Wii...and the Monkey was giving "advice"...

Monkeydad: Should I go down here?
Monkey: (flatly) No.

*sound of Mario dying*

Monkey: ...told you.

My life is a regular comedy hour!

I don't know about everyone else, but Finding Nemo on Ice is a very common conversation topic for me!

tee hee - had to laugh at the germs getting distracted by something shiny. So clever and . . . engagement. !.

:) I love the Monkey.

Little Miss gives a lot of advice too, and says things that make too darn much sense sometimes. Smart kids.
