Capturing the Monkey's Christmas in photos is no small feat. He moves around a lot. He's also prone to tackling the gift giver with a big, dramatic "Thank you...Thank You....THANK YOU!" at random moments.
He literally knocked me over twice.
His Christmas was excellent though! He got a bunch of books and some spy gear. He got a DVD and a couple of cool toys... He got old school games like Kerplunk! and Rock-Em Sock-Em Robots...and, as I alluded to before, he got the crowning jewel of all games...
Now, those of you who know me know that I am not a video gamer type. [Ok, yes, I did once spend an entire Sunday morning on my Atari trying to get Asteroids to roll over (and succeeded, thank you!)...but after that, I haven't been much into it.] And I'm certainly not a mom who would knowingly plunge her 5 year old into a video gaming sort of life...
...but let me tell you, the Wii is hella cool. The Monkey took great pride in "teaching" me a couple of the Wii-sports games. It turns out that I'm not a bad bowler and I can hold my own in the boxing ring. Later in the day, Mr.R and I took the "Wii Fitness" test and, I don't want to brag or anything (because my day-1 "Wii-age" is 63 -- someone bring me a walker!), but I'm a full 17 years Wii-younger than Mr.R.
Huzzah!
All in all, it was a merry little Christmas here at Chez Monkey...and indescribably fantastic to be in a real home again. I find myself sort of filled with gratitude this holiday season. It's been a long year on a bumpy road and I'm really rather happy that it's drawing to a close...and very excited for the promise of much good in the new year to come.

Stupid Blogger's lack of comment editing...
www.wiialerts.com was da bomb! I got a text message (3 of them total in the few weeks I was signed up) letting me know when they were in stock. I had about 5 minutes to seal the deal on Amazon. It was a *rush*, dude! Seriously...
Wii and chocolate martinis...sounds good to me! And in that order. I'm not sure I should have chocolate martinis, *then* exercise.
That is the greatest present of all time. Of All Time.
i've only played the Wii once, and TOWWAS, you're right. don't play after drinking. then again, i have the coordination of a flea.
i would, however, like to try it BEFORE drinking. my roommate is borrowing her cousin's (why did he let it out of his sight, we will never know) and i'm totally tempted to play it late at night. i think my roomies were last night, too . . .
