After careful consideration and several false starts, I've decided that there's virtually no way for a single person to make any sort of personal commentary on Valentine's Day without sounding somehow bitter, jaded, jealous or sad. And I'd really rather not think of myself as being any of those things.
...and yet I still felt like I needed to mark the occasion...only I had to do it without actualy thumbing my nose at it.
I feel like maybe I have a lot of rules. Or maybe I'm just picky... Regardless...
Happy Valentine's Day, Friends!

I'm single and I think Valentine's Day is dumb. Stupid made-up holiday. And that's not the bitter speaking, that's plain old annoyance with stupidity.
I'm married, happily, to a guy I've decided I really really like, and you know what? I agree with towwas, I think valentine's day is stupid. It's a stupid made-up holiday that creates a lot of unnecessary pressure and gives marketing people something to focus on in February.
You know what's romantic? Doing something nice for me when it's not some stupid made-up holiday.
Maybe I should rename...
Life is What You Pick
:D
You know, when you have a preschooler there is a somewhat larger percentage of time dedicated to the topic of nose picking than there is at any other time in your life. This I know.
Actually, I was just proud of all the internal nosey references in the blog... I picked the picture then picked the words...my nose stayed largely out of it.
(though I admit that I took great glee in associating Valentine's Day with nose picking...it was the least romantic thing I could find...well, until I read the "heyday for cheaters" story on your blog, MissS!)
I have an embarrasing nose-picking story. So you know how when you're on the metro, it's kind of like you're alone, because you don't know anyone? So my...uhhhh...friend was on the metro a few weeks ago, at night, maybe doing just a smidgen of nose maintenance. And when she got up at Silver Spring, she realized she was sitting next to someone she knew. But didn't know very well. And she just hoped the person didn't notice the nose part of the ride.
Towwas, that is the funniest thing I read all day.
