The Monkey asked if he could take his black and white robotic dinasaur ("Diney") in the car with him on the way to camp. After a short discussion as to whether or not a robotic dinasaur was a good car toy ("don't worry, Mom. It's appropriate."), I told him that was fine. Some things just aren't worth fighting over.
He got in the car and got himself strapped in...and immediately began to worry about how to properly secure Diney. Should she be in his lap under his seatbelt? Should she have her own seatbelt? Should he hold her?
After a few minutes, the commotion settled down and I asked if he'd figured out how to keep her safe. He said, "Oh, it's ok. I found a piece of string! Look! I can wind it around til my whole finger is red!!"
I think I'm buying him the wrong toys.
