I bet your dinner conversation last night was just like this...
Monkey: Look! I have a kickety kickball machine that can make any shape you want!
Me: You mean kickety kickballs come in more than one shape?
Monkey: Yes! Any shape!
Me: So I can get a triangle-shaped kickety kickball?
Monkey: Yep. One triangle comin' right up!
Me: (looking suspiciously) Now wait a second...triangles can't roll! They have corners!
Monkey: I can take the corners off, though...with my rope. Then it will roll!
Me: A triangle without corners?
Monkey: I can make you a rectangle kickety kickball too.
Me: But rectangles don't roll!
Monkey: My rope can take the corners off of it too. It's a *very* special rope.
Me: Uh huh.
[pause]
Monkey: I'm gonna go wash my hands...then we can talk more about elephants!

The whole world must be utterly fascinating to kids his age. Magic ropes and talking elephants and all that jazz.
I remember being amazed that my parents remembered how to drive placed. Like, we were in the car foreeeeeever and made a thousand turns, and they never ever forgot how to get to Norfolk.
