Can You Hear Me Now?

I realized on the drive home yesterday that my voice is back. Finally. After being mired in the throes of the-sinus-infection-that-would-not-die since New Year's, my voice is finally back. And I sang...and sang...and sang!

I have a decent voice. It's as imperfect as the rest of me... I'm too easily pulled off pitch by a meandering neighbor (or, as my friend TOWWAS can tell you, too much beer in an Irish bar)...and I'm highly susceptible to sinus infections...so it's tenuous a bit. But despite all the caveats, I just love to sing...and I do it well enough to not be embarassed of the fact that I love to sing. Bonus!

I don't think I'd realized how frustrated I was with the fact that I haven't been able to sing for the past...three?...months until yesterday. I was driving home thinking about some random song lyric that I couldn't remember and put in the CD...and the singing started...and somewhere in the middle of the song, the light bulb lit up over my head and I thought "whoa! I'm back!" and this joy just erupted inside... Kind of like when Jed Clampett hits the oil font with his shotgun? Yeah...it was that...well, only less with the black and gooey...

And then this morning there was traffic and blinding sun and my voice filling up the car for the entire commute....and I'm feeling so...just...happy! It's remarkable what a little sleep and a lot of vocals will do for a girl first thing on a Tuesday.

Can you hear me now? Oh...wait! You can! :)

I still giggle every time I think of meeting Estelle that guy's "lady friend"... What a blast!

I talked to MPF and he's got a bigger place now that's more on the...er...Upper West Side, I think? He's tied up for the next couple of months, but I'm betting he'd host us again after that...

Or, if we want to do the po'-assed bohemian trip, anytime after I get back from Greece... Whee!

I don't remember the lady friend...oh wait, maybe I do. Mainly I remember meeting the dad from Frasier. Well, "meeting" would be too strong. More like, "annoying with our loud and tuneless singing along to the jukebox."

Oh, dude! She was platinum blonde and wearing a fur trimmed coat...she was the "lady friend" of the very short, very NYC guy next to me who was singing with us. And Estelle was NOT happy that he was talking to us... Heh...it was hilarious.

Oh yes! I remember her being mad. Yeah. That was a special night.

I lost my voice for several months a while ago, too. I tested it regularly in the car, and was just as thrilled when it came back. I even sang in the shower this morning. Isn't it great?
